Tonight we are
putting up at the house of excellence just outside of Lusaka. This is an interesting B&B. When we arrived we had to go through a room full of people in a meeting to get to our rooms. Later that evening there was a birthday party and we had to cross the same room several times in the middle of the function. When we asked the owner if this was not a problem, he said not at all as we are all paying guests.
Thendo Ratshitanga and Tumelo Maelane completed an 18 days 8000kms round trip from South Africa to Tanzania, Dar es Salaam (1-18 December 2011). This was part of series of trips we did together in Southern Africa on our BMW GS1200 motorbikes. Look out for future rides on other continents.

Day 16 (Dec 16/705km)
We rode from
Mpika aiming to reach Livingston in order to get home by Sunday so that Tumi
can celebrate his birthday with his family on Monday, eager to get home the
thought of shipping the bikes and flying home crossed our minds many times. We attribute
this to fatigue and home sickness and we abandoned this thought as this would
be a short coming to a successful trip. Our wives offered to fetch us from Makhado, just 100km from the Beitbridge border post. This was something to look forward to and we asked them to bring us clean clothes, good food and refreshments.
